Alberta Energy Regulator (AER)

The ST37 List of Wells in Alberta contains the location, status, and operator information for every oil and gas well licensed by the Alberta Energy Regulator. Published as a monthly shapefile, it includes approximately 479,000 well records with attributes such as licence number, licence status, well operator, and surface coordinates.

The AER Enhanced Pipeline Shapefile contains the location and attributes of all regulated oil, gas, and multiphase pipelines in Alberta, updated monthly. Includes approximately 324,000 pipeline segments with attributes such as licence number, substance, status, operator, and from/to locations.

The AER Facility List Shapefile (ST102) contains the locations and attributes of all energy facilities regulated by the Alberta Energy Regulator, updated monthly. Covers gas plants, oil batteries, compressor stations, injection/disposal wells, straddle plants, and other upstream oil and gas infrastructure, classified by Energy Development Category Type (EDCT) codes.

Rural low-pressure natural gas distribution pipelines (<700 kPa) in Alberta, regulated under the Gas Distribution Act. Covers approximately 775,000 line segments operated by rural gas co-ops, First Nations utilities, counties, private systems, Apex Utilities, and ATCO Gas.

Provincial Power Lines + FortisAlberta Open Data

Government of Alberta / FortisAlberta

Combines two complementary datasets to provide comprehensive power line coverage across Alberta: provincial high-voltage transmission lines (69 kV and above) from the Government of Alberta, and FortisAlberta distribution lines (typically <25 kV) including both overhead and underground segments. Together they represent the full spectrum of electrical infrastructure from bulk transmission corridors to local distribution feeders.

The Buildings layer aggregates building footprint and address data from four independent sources across Alberta, totaling approximately 5.5 million features. Sources include community-contributed OpenStreetMap footprints, Statistics Canada's Open Database of Buildings, Microsoft's machine-learning-derived satellite imagery footprints, and AMDSP municipal address points. Each source is individually selectable on the map.
